Oracle TNS Broken…AGAIN

I swear, every single time I update major version numbers for Navicat you break the functionality of Oracle TNS connections. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME! If it wasnt for the fact that my alternative clients make me want to gouge my eyes out I would never open this stupid software. You advice to set environment variables and open the application through the command line DOES NOT WORK! And besides, if youre telling your users to open a Mac GUI application through the command line YOUVE DONE SOMETHING COMPLETELY WRONG! Its just utterly unvelievable that youre asking people to pay money for this software.

Newer version - now with more bugs!

So, version 10 had bugs, but worked *most* of the time. Recently it upgraded me to version 11 - and now: a) Crashes more often b) *Much* slower with initial queries. Its got alot of potential - I (currently) use it for Oracle, SQLLite, and MySQL connections; its obviously convenient having all of that and in a native OSX App. The GUI is good for its purposes, loads quickly, etc. But the bugs are plentiful, the crashes too common, and the sluggishness of initial query loading annoying. Ill give it a little longer, but probably end up going back to other Systems. Too bad.

After update TNS_ADMIN no longer works!

I have followed the steps on the help wiki and it does not recognize my TNS_ADMIN file. I am unable to connect to my oracle servers now.

Support could use some help

I like Navicat a lot. I use it almost daily in my work, and it does what it should. I have two gripes. 1. The Console could really use some love. I find this to be quite useful for throwaway ad-hoc queries, but the keyboard shortcuts are inconsistent and make editing a query frustrating. I know I could use the query tool, but I often find the console to be quicker, and I guess I’m just in the habit of using the console. 2. Support. I tried to export some data from a query the other week, and it didn’t work. I kept getting an error. I finally sent in a request to support (October 5) Just today (October 24) I finally got an acknowledgement that it was a bug with a terse workaround. (set the export path outside of home folder (~/)). Really Navicat?? I’ve long since moved on to another tool to do my export. Who can wait 19 days for an acknowledgement and workaround for something that is clearly broken.

Good

Like this app as it helps me in my wok. Turns database management into a flawless experience, really good app to export and import files using different formats. This app would be helpful for all people involved into database management.

Great app

Love this wonderful app as it combines the best features of the database management apps. It supports many formats and I can easy work with several of them at the same time. Makes my projects much faster and more reliable. Good app overall.

Almost perfect but

I found this app when I was in a serach for a reliable database manager app. I love how this app works, flowless operations and easy in use controls. Actually this app can be used for working with different databases and different formats. It is a one way portal for all your databases that helps a lot.

Pretty nice

My job is connected with database management. I work with various database types and I this app gives me access to all my files in different formats which is simply great. Must admit that app interface is cool, navigation is a breeze, overall app works good and this app is a real my life saver.

runs great but lack basic features such as Vacuum on sqlite

I use it very often and it is pretty useful as a native mac app comparing to other open source apps. However, I really wish it could have basic features such as Vacuum on sqlite dabases. It says it has this in the release note but I donot see it anywhere.

Very unstable

I’ve never successfully quit this application because of the hangs and crashes. It’s incapable of recovering from my laptop going to sleep and reawakening on a new network without succumbing to the rainbow pinwheel of doom. Even doing simple things like double clicking on a table in the nav pane often go boom. As far as DB clients go, especially on the Mac platform, it’s by far the best looking and most native feeling. And, to be fair, it’s not the least stable of the bunch, either. But the fact is, no software should be this flaky. Especially for the cost. I very much want to be a fan, but it’s just not possible until Navicat stabilizes.

Works well for most servers, Not good for SQL Server

Works great for mysql and Oracle. SQL Server support is VERY lacking. There is no NTLMv2 support and now that it’s been implimented as a requirement on my work environment I am no longer able to use this product. It’s also a pain to setup if your SQL Server runs multiple instances. There is no straight forward way of setting that up. You can get around it if a feild passes the freeTDS arguments like instance name (in Oracle Developer you can feed arguments after the port number with semicolons).

Completely broken; stay away!

The connection configuration section is completely broken. You can’t save or edit any new or existing connections without hitting a bug about malformed connection strings (when the connection strings are clearly fine and worked in previous versions). Support has not yet responded. For $150 that is unacceptable. Happy to remove my negative review if Navicat would like to correct the problem.

utf-8 problem.. again… and again and again

isnt utf-8 problem important issue ? THIS APP HAVE UTF-8 CJK LANGUAGE PROBLEM FROM LONG TIME AGO. why don’t you fix it

Always improving

I have been using this application for more than a year, and the developer has been providing updates without charging. I felt the need to write this comment after the latest update. My only complaint has been addressed with a new feature that allows me to run multiple queries in the same window. I use the application for work, and highly recommend it.

Application Broke and Now Work is Impossilble

The latest version of this application crashes on start up. I have spent far too much money on this application for it to do this.

Can’t connect to database

I filled in the information for connection and try to test the connection. I get some cryptic message that says it can’t create a OID. All I want to do is connect to my database. And I don’t have time to play cryptic games. Until I can do this… it is utterly useless.

Unreliable and wipeout my database connection login credential

It used to be reliable, but after the last few updates it crash way too often to be use at work. The UI is good but I cannot recommand this software to anyone at this moment. A half year ago, I recommanded this software to few of my coworkers, they used to like it but now we all hate it. Please fix the bugs and do some unit testing before you release the software. This is a professional application, I expect it to behave like one. How do you expect us to pay you $400 for the premium version when your most basic application fail to work. Second Review Update - Jan 25th, 2016 After using it for almost 3 years, you wipeout all my databases connaction login credential. Not sure because I am using the new Navicat Cloud, but this update wasted my time and make my work more difficult. If it is not broken, DON’T try to fix it. Now you broke everything. How do you expect anyone to buy your app for $150 when you wasted people time? Third Review Update - Mar 15, 2016 You did it again, all the connection I saved is gone, and I have to set it up all again. It is so annoying that you have to re-re-create the configuration after each time you update the app. Wish I cant give it a 0 start.
