Navicat Premium Essentials App Reviews

Neat

I use this app with Postgres db and its doing a great job. No issues whatsoever and I have yet to explore all those features packed into this version. Thumbs up!

Too buggy, just crashes

crashes on basic actions like "update" / "delete" statements on mssql. Support is unable to solve it (since 1 year). Slow Performance. Support does not care about problems. DO NOT BUY THIS, if you want to work with the application. I will assure you, that it will crash by doing simple things like adding Servers, Firing Queries, etc. etc. Full of bugs.

Easy interface, plenty of features

I get a lot of use out of this app. I work as a web developer, and we have a lot of sites using both MySQL and MSSQL servers. I use this app to maintain those databases, create new tables, update/import/export data, etc. on a daily basis. Ive recently been getting into iOS development, which often involves SQLite databases to store data. This app opens those too, so its been great for verifying all the data storage is happening as it should be. Very versatile, easy to use, nice interface, and full of features. Well worth the money!

Really good for the price

A really nice DB tool. For only $10, it connects to a lot of different DB and has a nice interface. I used it with mysql and sqlite yet and it was flawless. A must buy.

Good, not great… but good.

Its really cool to be able to manage differnt DB types all from one app. I got the app on sale so thats an added bonus. I have had a bunch of crashes and the UI is pretty sluggish at times. I mostly use MySQL so this app is competing with SequelPro (free). Id give this app stars if performance were better. Still… its the only app I know of that will handle Postgres, Sqlite and MySQL… which is why I paid for it.

Great Update! but still missing one thing..

The new UI is pretty nice! I like the tabbed interface being able to keep everything in one window. There is still no way to save a query as an external file! Dealing with update scripts and other queries that typically go into source control (as a developer), there should be an easy way to do this from this app. Currently the ONLY way is to cut/paste into a text editor. This is extremely unproductive. Otherwise, I find this program very comprehensive and its nice to be able to use a single interface for all the different databases I use (mysql, postgres, mssql, and sqlite).

Great tool, great value

This app does exactly what I needed. I wanted to be able to browse and query the database, save some queries (right in the app; bonus feature!) and export data. All fulfilled. I found that the export was limited to 10k rows. Wrote the devs and they declared it a bug and had it fixed in the next release (out within days of me pointing it out).

Good basic feature set

Provides a solid set of basic features for a connecting to many databases, well worth the money. Had a problem with moving tabs to a new window, that bug was quickly corrected and the feature now works perfectly.

Where is my connections?

All connections from the previous version are gone, import didnt and doesnt work. How do I get it all back now?

Cool

This database manager becomes more cool. But still have problem: try to open the same database (SQLite) several times - double click, double click. You will see error ‘Database file cannot be opened (No such file or directory)’. It’s a bug! Fix it please, it’s annoying! And you will be the best!

Price difference

Why I bought this app for 17.99 €, and I was charged of 34.66?

version 11?

will we customers from App Store receive an upgrade to v11?

Good, bug fixed! Recommaned this app because, they alwasy update and add new features.

Fifth Reivew Update - Aug 12, 2016 Had been using Navicat for a long time, I bought this software when it first released on App Store and they keep adding more features to it. Sometime things may broken and have some bugs, but I promise you that your money will be worth it in a long run. Most other companies do bait and switch, after you use it for a while they will ask you to subscribe for more expensive features. Navicat is very clear about their product line, you get excatly what you bought. A good company that support their users and keep improving their product without asking extra for the update. I compain a lot about this prodcut as you can see below, but this software is so good that I cannot change to other. Keep up with the good works guys! Fourth Review Update - May 2, 2016 I disabled the Navicat Cloud function from the previous update and using local configuration only. Everything seem to work fine for now. PS. Do NOT save your database connect to the Navicat Cloud, it will disappear when the software is updated. To Navicat developers, please let us know when the Navicat Cloud function is out of beta and ready for the production use. Third Review Update - Mar 15, 2016 You did it again, all the connection I saved is gone, and I have to set it up all again. It is so annoying that you have to re-re-create the configuration after each time you update the app. Wish I can give it a 0 stars. Second Review Update - Jan 25th, 2016 After using it for almost 3 years, you wipeout all my databases connaction login credential. Not sure because I am using the new Navicat Cloud, but this update wasted my time and make my work more difficult. If it is not broken, DON’T try to fix it. Now you broke everything. How do you expect anyone to buy your app for $150 when you wasted people time? First Review Update - Long time ago 2013 It used to be reliable, but after the last few updates it crash way too often to be use at work. The UI is good but I cannot recommand this software to anyone at this moment. A half year ago, I recommanded this software to few of my coworkers, they used to like it but now we all hate it. Please fix the bugs and do some unit testing before you release the software. This is a professional application, I expect it to behave like one. How do you expect us to pay you $400 for the premium version when your most basic application fail to work.

does not support Sierra!

I upgraded to Sierra as well as updated Navicat to the most recent version. Now it does not even open. Please fix it.

Unreliable and wipeout my database connection login credential

best "universal" DB client for OSX

Ive used the predecessor to this software (Navicat Lite) for a while and it was the best DB client for developers that can connect to most of the most popular DBMSs. This software continues that tradition. Its worth paying $50 for this version if it now comes with support and regular upgrades. the positive: - good overall functionality for $50 (my personal opinion; I recognize that opinions vary) - reasonably stable (for me, but I usually only connect to SQL Server/MySQL) - nice looking UI which makes it easy to do most DB tasks, including schema development and some admin tasks - support for more advanced stuff like linked servers, server and database triggers, partition functions, etc the negative: - for $50, SQL code completion should be included. Its not an enterprise feature so it should not be left out of the "Essentials" edition. If this app were free, you could justify leaving it out, but not for $50. Ill give the app 5 stars when this happens (assuming I dont find any horrible bugs ITMT). - no support for connecting to JavaDB/Derby. - no support for connecting to HSQL/H2. - I dont know if this is possible for an app in the App Store, but the ability to get basic functionality for other databases by installing database drivers.

Excellent

I had to move many very large databases, and I was able to connect and get it done. Works fantastic. Beats using mysqlworkbench for just about anything.

sql server connection doesn

[update for version 10.0.5, Sql Server connection now works! Thanks!] downloaded trial version (10.0.5) from navicat website, worked well and liked it. Purchased from appstore (version 10.0.4), same sql server connection settings is returning errors. I purchased this app for using sql server connections, and it basically doesnt work. Very disppointed.

Very good

I have been developing an iphone application that connects to a sql server DB. I prefer to use this program to edit/view the data then going to the "slow" server and running the GIANT sql server management studio express program. Makes my job alot easier! The only thing I dont like about this program is the multi-window setup going on. Id rather when I select a table that it would change the view on the right to show the columns & rows. But overall very useful.

Very Good Application

Im a Apple IOS Developer and this is a great tool when i need to manage SQL Data. Been looking for a tool like this for a long time. A+
